Ideally designing and decorating a hallway is not so easy. Almost every apartment and house has a hallway at least at the entrance.
Correct color scheme for the hallway
The first step in decorating a hallway begins with the design of the walls, or rather the correct color of the walls. The first basic rule is that you should not use too dark colors and shades. This will make the hallway appear even narrower and smaller than it probably is, and will appear restricted.
For this reason, it is advisable to focus on light colors and tones. For example, you can consider white or light cream colors, as well as brown tones, as these colors make the entryway appear larger and lighter. If you don't like white walls, you can alternatively paint the wall in light gray tones. If white or other light colors are too boring for you, you can also use colors. The use of pastel colors is recommended. They add a subtle pop of color to the hallway without creating gloom.
Of course, there is also an option to make the hallway non-monochrome and sophisticated. For example, you can use wallpaper with 3D prints or colored accents and patterns as accents.
The right compartment for the hallway
At first glance, decorating a hallway does not seem so simple. However, decorate your entryway to make your entry area more inviting and welcoming. When it comes to decorating your hallway, there are no limits and you can go crazy. However, one basic rule should be followed so that the hallway does not seem small and gloomy: less is more - the hallway should not seem overloaded. Therefore, the decoration should be subtle and harmonious. Possible decorations include mirrors, plants, paintings, various lamps, and accessories such as watches. Rugs and rugs fit very well on the floor. There should be a clear structure, especially when decorating a modern hallway. This means you should focus on light colors and few dark or colorful accents. This allows you to skillfully emphasize and highlight the functionality of the hallway. It is best to decorate the hallway with a few selected elements made from quality materials.
The right furniture for hallway design
The motto “Less is more” also applies when choosing the right furniture for your hallway design. Since the hallway is usually quite narrow and long, the emphasis should be on smaller furniture. We recommend, for example, a chest of drawers on which you can place some decor. Bright lamps that are not too large are also recommended. Furniture that is too large has a restrictive effect.
As with wall designs, we recommend light furniture or wood tones. They feel open and spacious. The hallway seems even more spacious due to the use of compartment walls. They are not only practical for storing jackets, umbrellas or bags, but also give a uniform character and offer plenty of storage space. Wardrobes typically consist of several different parts, such as a wardrobe, a coat hook, a mirror, and, depending on the occasion, a chest of drawers, chest of drawers, or shoe cabinet. Of course, you can also use individual elements. Benches or side tables are practical additions for larger hallways.
There are various aspects to consider when designing a narrow corridor. In fact, it makes sense to decorate a narrow hallway in a minimalist style. Minimalism is modern and, of course, can be optimally used in hallway design. Of course, other furniture styles will work as long as they match the rest of the apartment and create a cohesive overall impression!
